Michael Sweet and this other Tom guy do a pretty good job with taking Brad Delp’s place. The woman’s voice is rather sleepy though. Tom Scholz sounds great too.

  2. I like the part at about 6:30 where Tommy jams, Brad did that part great, but Tommy nailed it, didn’t he ? He is very talented, lots of people slam him,but I don’t see them posting videos of themselves here !

  3. I have heard several Boston tribute bands who sound better than this.

Boston lives! Nothing could do more tribute to Brad than for the band to further the spirit of this great music!!

  5. “solo wasn’t as good as it was”…”vocals not as good”..People,get over it,the original lead singer killed himself, move on..this is not bad at all,and i think with 3 different people singing vocals, really a touching tribute to Brad. And for any of you people who don’t know,Boston is Tom Scholz, everybody else was just an add-on to play out live…

  6. I agree! Scholtz was messy in this performance. Barry Goudreau’s guitar work made this and many of Boston’s earliest work and trademark sound.

  7. the solo wasnt nearly as good as it was back in the day…

  8. This actually sounds very good . its hard to replace Brad Delp but this is very good with Michael Sweet Tommy Decarlo and that hot chick bass player. Why does Tom Scholtz always dress up likes he’s about to shoot hoops in his back yard. With the cash he has you ‘d think he invest in a better stage wardrobe.

  9. It’s amazing to me that all the video of this band seems to be taken by crappy cell phones. Didn’t Boston ever appear on Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert?

  10. After hearing “More Than a Feeling” and “Foreplay / Long Time” on the radio I decided to buy their debut album about a month ago, and I now own the first three albums and can’t stop listening to them. Even though Brad Delp won’t be on there, I will probably pick up their newer releases in the future. From what I’ve seen here they’re still worth listening to and seeing in concert.

  11. I think Tom has done a fine job at keeping Boston alive to the present day, and he’s got some good vocalists on board to sing live the incredible harmonies that Brad did by himself in the studio but obviously could not reproduce live on his own.

But I realize that its their own opinion so I should let them have it.

No doubt, I would to hear some “rocking” Boston songs again and have more selection available, but there is a fine line where too much is too much. Its nice to see other members input being put into play, whether its a half success or not. I like hearing Toms recording process in most anything and the Boston “Sound” too. All in all, I just think that each one of Bostons songs is its own treasure that I hold close to my heart. I admittedly jump the gun when someone degrades any of the songs.

To me, Bostons music has matured along the way and while rough around the edges (some songs on Corporate America just didnt sound like Boston as we all know it at all) I can name and recall every Boston song that has been made on memory. When the Rolling Stones have created 30 something albums, I can name about 10 songs at the most. Their hits were hits, but none of the others “stick” to me like Bostons music does. I think 30 Boston albums would get old to Boston fans.

lonaticc, before I go further. I am NOT angry. Spirited debate would suit the deion better. I am a fierce fan of Boston as an overall and you are a fierce fan of Boston pre 1980. To me, anything Tom Scholz has done is great and worth listening to. I compare Tom creating his albums to an artist creating a masterpiece. Some do not like it…others love it and spend millions for it.

I realize a lot of people think Boston has went “down” over the years. Rock and Roll rocked on out.

  16. I hope that Tom actually does a “rock&roll” band thing again.
If he composes an album that sounds more like the first 2 albums, then I would say so. IMHO Tom & Barry both fed off of each other, as the entire band (Barry, Tom, Brad, Sib & Fran) CONTRIBUTED to “Don’t Look Back” being successful. Bands should be able to write an album TOGTHER quickly and keep the sound. That is what they did & I think it might have scarred Tom a bit that THE BAND Boston wasn’t just his creation alone anymore.

  17. Brad, Tom, Barry, Sib & Fran were the “original” Boston. Tom Scholz & yourself can deny that as much as u want. Fans like yourself went with THE NAME before the “rock&roll” music. I did also but didn’t like it like you did. The current Boston can rock, but nothing like it once did. Sorry for me having an opinion and getting you so angry about it all.
Tom seems 2 do way 2 much analyzing his music with dissapointing results IMO. His “original” line up was A BAND that all members contributed 2.

  18. Hows throwing in THE TRUTH on “Cool The Engines” being a hypocrite? Yes, I have listened 2 everything Tom & his current & past lineup of musicians 4 the thing he likes to pretend is Boston has done. The same reasons I also like 2 listen 2 cover bands once in a while. To see if they are really as good anymore (which many are) or not as good in their song writting. Tom Scholz writting IMHO has went towards ballad “girly” tunes instead of “rock&roll” & his musicians have been subpar to the original

So, if Boston died in 1980, according to you, then let that version of Boston rest in peace. If Barry was such the main factor in Boston, how come he never had the commercial success that Tom and BOSTON…yes BOSTON, enjoyed? Dont get me wrong. I like what Barry did for the band….I like what he did with his own band. I met Barry. But you are suffering major delusions of grandeur to something that is entirely made up in your mind. Tom Scholz and Brad Delp were the “original” Boston.

If everyone felt the same way about Boston as you do, lonaticc, it seems to me that Boston would not have had a successful 2008 tour with these two new singers. Suffice it to say, you are wrong and I imagine the next Boston album will prove you and alot of the other “TRUE” Boston fans….yeah right….wrong. Michael Sweet can play circles…lead wise around Barry. If he gets to record on the album you will be stunned. Tommy is sounding more like Brad with each song he records. Its amazing!

  21. bostonartist2008 05. Jul, 2010 at 5:54 am

Each song has its own personality and the people that contributed to that song, you can hear it in the song. Barry did the leadwork in Foreplay/Long Time. He did the leadwork in Used To Bad News…..he played heavily in harmonizing solos, but so did Gary Pihl on Third Stage (of course you dont even like this album, though you did just have to throw the lil comment about “Cool the Engines” in there didnt you?) hypocrite.

    @lonaticc

    lonaticc,
its obvious that you like Barry and seem to have nothing but disdain for Tom. Why, if you think that Boston (yes, I said BOSTON..not Tom Scholz Project) is that bad now….why do you waste your time and mine and everyone elses crying like a baby over spilled milk. Tom and Brad were BOSTON. Why do you even watch this video or any other current Boston footage. To you, Boston died in 1980. Why dont you go back there and live? Do you want a pacifier?

  23. You have to give Tom credit, though. He did practically write all of Boston’s songs. BUT, Tom is a complete dried out water well right now. Barry added so much.

  24. @DMHFirebird

I wish Barry Goudreau would form a jazz-rock-fusion band highlighting & using the Boston SOUND. He would blow away anything Tom Scholz has written since ‘Don’t Look Back’. Plus, it’d be more of a “rock & roll” band than anything Scholz has produced or written since ‘Don’t Look Back’.

  25. @DMHFirebird

Your 100% right! Boston has not been the “Rock & Roll” band they were since the first two albums. Barry Godreau was the guitarist doing all the fast lick shredding.
They should have titled everything after ‘Don’t Look Back’ The Tom Scholz Project because it hasn’t been Boston since the original band members left. Ever wonder why “Cool The Engines” was the only remaining ‘rock&roll’ songs of Boston? Look who was the contributing writters.
